…don’t fix it.
Well, I have. Broken it. Only a bit. Well, I decided Kubuntu Intrepid Ibex, Alpha 2*, aka 8.10, was much better than that nice, stable, working Hardy Heron, the current release (8.04.1).
Surprisingly, it isn’t as broken as you might think. For example, the stylus is still working a treat, for handwriting and drawing. However, we have a few – issues.
KDM is still being started manually, and somewhat shakily at times. Had to move .kde4 to .kde, and still had to hand enter all my Kopete settings anew. Actually, most of them anew. Sigh.
Minor issues though. Wireless, once the bete noir of Linux desktop lovers, just worked(tm). Bluetooth detected and seems to be funtioning, again, out of box.
Current not working:
- NVIDIA proprietary drivers will take some work, so using the more limited open source NV ones.
- Rotate (Xrandr) is out.
- The hotkeys on the side of the TC1100 are still down for the count, despite Xbindkeys seeming to work.
Will update as I go:) The TC1100 Howto will get tweaked once I know – well, work it out.
*I am not silly, I waited until Alpha TWO, what do you take me for???

You’re on Alpha 2! I can’t bring myself to try it because I might lose sleep and work hours over fixing stuff.
